Qantas Virtual Group’s 747 Month
As we farewell the Boeing 747 from our fleet, we have dedicated an entire month leading up to our 8th anniversary to commemorate the B747 and the significant role it has played in the development of Australian Aviation. This week, we are remembering a record-breaking rescue flight. After Cyclone Tracy devastated much of Darwin during Christmas 1974. Qantas flew a Boeing 747 to Darwin to rescue the many people who needed help. They set a world record flying from YPDN-YSSY by carrying the most amount of people in a B747 - 673!
Here is another Qantas advertisement, this time from 1983.
